Course Description:
This course provides students with an understanding of the aspects of human growth and development. Parenting skills are developed as positive guidance techniques and child-related issues are studied. Learning activities, observation techniques, and lab experiences in working with young children may be included.
Course Curriculum:
The following curriculum will be taught throughout the semester: Parenting Responsibilities, Growth and Development, Pregnancy and Child Birth, Newborn and Infant, Toddlers and Preschoolers, Guidance Techniques, Health and Wellness of Children.
Who can take this class?
Child Development is a semester long class and is offered to 9th-12th graders. There are no prerequisites required to take this class.

Extra Credit Project Ideas...
Each student is allowed to complete one extra credit project per term. Projects need to be approved by the teacher and must be related to the current subject/topic. Below are a few instructions/examples of projects that may be completed you may also come up with your own ideas! Just make sure to get them approved by Ms. Pate first.
